Job description include:
- Meal preparation
- Companionship
- Light housekeeping
- Transportation to and from doctors’ appointments (or arranging telemedicine appointments)
- Running errands (or arranging grocery delivery)
- Helping with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and hygiene
- Reminding the client to take their medication on time
- Helping with feeding and other everyday tasks
- Tracking your client’s condition and reporting changes to your supervisor
- Assisting with dementia or Alzheimer’s care
- Offering respite care to relieve family caregivers

Prior to any offer of employment; all employees must successfully pass a state mandatory criminal background check (if you have lived in Pennslyvania for two years or more).
(FBI Fingerprint is required for residents that live in Pennslyvania for less than two years). AFS is prohibited from hiring and or retaining any individual(s) with a prohibited conviction or Department of Aging ineligibility determination.

Clearance is required when caring for participants living with children under the age of 18. (AFS requires all DCW to have a valid child abuse clearance within 5 years).
Tuberculosis (TB)

New health care personnel is required in the state of Pennslyvania to be screened and tested for 2 Step TB Test upon hire.
(CDC does not recommend annual TB testing for most health care personnel).
